The Eden Rooted Year

A nature-centred journey for women, one-to-one or in pairs

The Eden Rooted Year is a nature-centred programme for individual women or pairs of friends, held near Hexham, Northumberland, at your own local place, or (in time) as a self-guided downloadable journey.

This is for women who want more than a one-off workshop: and instead grow into a slow, meaningful structure that helps them rebuild an everyday relationship with the living world over the annual cycle of fallow-rebirth-growth-harvest, through attention, story, practical knowledge, and small acts of reciprocity.

Who this is for

The Eden Rooted Year (1:1) is for women who:

  • Are in midlife, transition, or a period of re-evaluation.

  • Feel drawn to nature but unsure how to make it a real, daily relationship.

  • Want a gentle, intelligent structure that respects their energy and life circumstances.

  • Would value a trusted guide and a clear seasonal arc, without the pressure of a large group.

  • Are open to spending time outdoors in all weathers, in gardens, parks, streets, or wilder places.

You do not need to be an expert in plants, ecology, or crafts. You only need curiosity and a willingness to show up, season after season.

How it works

The programme follows the natural year, from autumn’s turning-inwards through winter’s quiet, spring’s emergence, and summer’s fullness, back into harvest and rest.

You can join in several ways:

1. Full-Year 1:1 Journey
  • Four seasonal half-days or full-days over twelve months (or a rhythm that suits you).

  • Held near Hexham, at your own local place, or hybrid.

  • Between sessions: short seasonal field notes, simple practices, and occasional check-ins.

  • The year moves through themes of gathering, rest, emergence, and fullness, allowing the natural world to become part of your inner curriculum.

This option is for women who want depth, continuity, and a dedicated companion for a year of change.

2. Seasonal Half-Day or Full-Day
  • A single half-day or full-day experience, themed by the current season.

  • Held near Hexham or your local place (park, garden, canal, woodland, or neighbourhood route).

  • Includes time outdoors, gentle field activities, reflection, and a practice to take home.

  • You can book one day, or several across the year as you wish.

This option is for women who want a meaningful day in nature without committing to a full programme.

3. Self-Guided Programme
(coming soon)
  • A downloadable or low-touch online version of The Eden Rooted Year.

  • Designed to be followed in your own place, at your own pace.

  • Built from the 1:1 work, so it is grounded in real experience, not theory alone.

If you are interested in being notified when this becomes available, please join the field-notes list or contact me directly.

What a session is like

While each meeting is different, most Eden Rooted Year sessions share a similar shape:

  • Arrival and threshold – tea, welcome, and a gentle settling into the place.

  • Time outdoors –  a seasonal field quest in the garden, park, or local landscape.

  • A knowledge gift – a short, researched thread: a plant story, a piece of folklore, a seasonal insight, or a practical skill.

  • Reflection and making – working with words, maps, images, or simple materials; creating something to take away.

  • A practice to take home – a small, doable invitation to continue the relationship with your own local place.

Sessions are intentionally unhurried. They are designed to feel like a living conversation between you, the guide, and the season.

Where it takes place

At a location near Hexham, Northumberland:
Sessions can be held in and around Hexham, using the village hall as a warm base and the nearby crags, lanes, and Hadrian’s Wall landscape as our field classroom.

At your place:
If you live within reasonable travelling distance, I can come to your local area: a garden, park, canal, woodland, or neighbourhood route that is accessible to you.

Hybrid or online elements:
Some check-ins, field notes, or reflective sessions can be offered online or by email/phone, especially for women who cannot travel easily.

If you are unsure which option might suit you, I am happy to have a brief, no-pressure conversation to explore possibilities.

Cost and booking

Because this work is highly personal and flexible, pricing depends on:

  • Format (half-day, full-day, or full-year journey).

  • Location (near Hexham, your place, or hybrid).

  • Travel time and expenses.

  • Whether you are booking a single day or a full seasonal programme.

Please contact me to discuss your situation, and I will outline current options and pricing.

Is this right for me?

The Eden Rooted Year (1:1) is likely to suit you if you:

  • Want a slow, meaningful structure rather than a fast fix.

  • Are happy to spend part of each session outdoors in all weathers (with appropriate clothing).

  • Value thoughtful facilitation, practical work, and reflective space.

  • Are comfortable with a supportive but non-therapeutic relationship.

It may not be the best fit if you:

  • Are looking for clinical treatment for burnout, depression, or anxiety.

  • Prefer purely indoor, classroom-style learning.

  • Want a highly structured, goal-driven coaching programme.

  • Need frequent, intensive personal support between sessions.

If you are unsure, I am happy to have a brief conversation to see whether this matches what you are looking for.

The burnout recovery course

Nature doesn't recover by pushing through, and neither can you.

The burnout recovery course

*Course materials to be released on

10 October 2026*

A nurturing five-block course to be taken at your own pace, with an additional full day workshop - Restful Remedies - together with the herbs at Dilston Physic Garden on Saturday 10 October 2026.

Our bodies, hearts and minds weren't built for many of the cultural stressors we have to deal with in the 21st century, and on top of those we have other pressures - expected and unexpected - that can pile on top of each other like one storm surging over another. What's more, exactly those stressors make it all but impossible to access our oldest ways of dealing with the cycle of stress and release that for most of human existence kept us healthy.

But even the most urban of us can learn to remember our oldest knowledge, and let nature heal us and remind us of the natural rhythms of life. A field doesn't recover by pushing through, and neither does a wood, a hedgerow, or a garden. The time comes for it to lie fallow. Then it prepares, laying foundations for resilience. It grows, and it harvests, and it lies fallow again. Going way beyond metaphor, this mechanism works for us too. And it works to heal in systems of incredible complexity and wonder.

This course takes you through all of that, and from fallow to fallow, one day at a time.

What you get:

  • A welcome pack in September

  • Five blocks of material to take at your own pace (perhaps over a long weekend dedicated to your wellbeing, or spaced out over a longer period of time), each following one phase of the cycle: fallow, seedtime, growth, harvest, and finally a different kind of fallow from the first.

  • You'll receive the full workbook, the background, the plant knowledge, the practices, nature recordings and spoken meditations.

  • Restful Remedies: one full-day workshop together at Dilston Physic Garden on Saturday 10 October, outdoors in the harvest season, working with the plants themselves.

  • You also have email support from me throughout the course, and for two months after the Dilston day.

  • You'll come away understanding what stress and overwhelm actually are and what they do to a body, a self-care plan you've built yourself, and the ability to recognise the onset of the cycle next time, early enough to do something about it.

  • The knowledge and understanding of a much easier way of being.

This course has been researched, devised and written with total dedication to helping you understand your stress cycles and nature's answers to them, and to giving you the most effective tools and support to move forward. Not only that, but it has been so important to me that over the six days (and whenever you want to return to it in the future) you explore what healing and recovery really are at each part of the process.

The practical bits:

  • Only 10 places

  • £275 for the full five blocks of course materials plus the workshop day.

  • Payment by instalments available at checkout

  • Enrolment closes on Saturday 12 September.

The 10 October date at Dilston is part of the course and isn't available as a standalone workshop.

Do contact me if you have any further questions, at juno@eden-rooted.co.uk.

The 10 October day is part of this course, so the founding group is for women who can get to Northumberland. A self-directed version without the workshop day, the email support, or the small group will follow later in the year. If that works better for you, do join my mailing list and I'll let you know when it's ready!
