Hello

I'm Dr Juno Quaintrell: applied environmental anthropologist, creative educator, home herbalist, and founder of Eden Rooted. With a background in teaching, lecturing and the arts, and a lifelong love of the natural world, I have spent almost two decades exploring what it really means for humans around the world to live in relationship with the Earth.

Eden Rooted ...

Some years ago, as an academic researcher, I had one of those midlife moments of total unravelling. Several major life events had occurred over the space of a couple of years, resulting in displacement on several levels. I'd coped-not-coped through obsessive focus on work.

At that time, an assignment took me to a First Nation Reservation in North America, where early one morning my extraordinary Citizen Cherokee host gave a piercing critique of my condition through her First Nation worldview. On one completely wonderful, life-altering forest walk, she demonstrated how holistic self-knowledge and a proper, hands-on relationship with nature were the keys to healthy, happy living, especially at times of crisis. I will be forever grateful to her.

I began to integrate my wider cross-cultural and other learnings on relationships with the natural world, wellbeing and intentional living into the basis of a holistic practice without cultural appropriation and I was its first

guinea pig.

Then in recent years, two things happened. I grew increasingly uncomfortable with the environmental cost of my day job - particularly all the intercontinental travel - and I became increasingly focused on one question: how do we bring what many nature-centred communities call our 'oldest knowledge’ - that is, the knowledge of how to be in mutual relationship with the natural world we co-evolved with - back into the everyday lives of people in industrialised societies who have lost touch with it?

That question led me to create Eden Rooted, which ethically combines indigenous wisdom, our deepest instincts, and multi-disciplinary approaches, to help 21st century humans restore a real, working, loving, everyday relationship with nature, wherever we are, with the added benefit of helping nature to recover and thrive.

I work with people, organisations and companies who are ready to listen and work differently - to nature, and to themselves.
